The client, a European retail and consumer products company, needed to conduct an end to end strategy review of technology and architecture, to ensure that the IT function and its aims were aligned with the business and marketplace.
The review was a high-level applications and infrastructure review. It also covered how the IT function was setup and how decisions were governed on technology choice (i.e. build or buy).
Additionally, the client wanted to ensure that the new CIO job description and organisation priorities were aligned with the strategy.
Coeus conducted the strategic review by interviewing key business leaders, and conducting a series of workshops with the IT leadership. The review considered all aspects of IT and assessed the current IT capabilities and competencies to meet the business needs. We also
- Reviewed and analysed data on suppliers
- Reviewed and analysed application / infrastructure data
Coeus delivered a set of documents that demonstrated the industry and business drivers; recommended the strategic principles for IT with a target organisation, operating model and governance.
We also provided a financial benchmark for the size of the IT organisation and gave recommendations on Application and infrastructure and how to best source the requirements.
The review delivered a clear set of future principles and digital strategies for the IT department. We enabled the department to set up a new organisation structure with a solid governance structure to help future decision making and improve project outcomes.
We provided sourcing advice that helped the client understand how to reduce costs and improve application and infrastructure services to the business.
Finally, recommended the job priorities for the incoming CIO.
